What a Lead Generation Specialist does

A pipeline is only as good as its inputs. A lead generation specialist researches your ideal customers, builds enriched lists and runs outreach that starts real conversations.

Every StaffingSolutions.io lead generation specialist is recruited, hired and managed by us — reference-checked for your tools, working your business hours, and backed by our zero-risk promise: no placement fee, money-back first week, and a free replacement if the fit isn't right.

What they handle

  • ICP research — who to target.
  • List building — enriched and verified.
  • Multichannel outreach — email and LinkedIn.
  • Response handling — routed to sales.
  • Data hygiene — clean CRM.
  • Campaign reporting — what's working.
The actual work

A week in the role

A lead generation specialist builds the list the sales team works. The week is ICP filters, sourcing companies and named decision-makers, waterfall enrichment, email verification, suppression against existing customers, and the one specific research line that makes an opener land. The conversations belong to the SDR; the data belongs here.

The taskWhat that actually involves
Translate the ICP into filters

Turns the client's ideal customer description into an actual query — industry or ANZSIC code, headcount band, state and LGA, tech stack, franchise or independent — then tests it on a sample before building the full list.

Source the company list

Pulls target companies from Apollo, Cognism, Firmable and LinkedIn Sales Navigator, cross-checks entity name, trading name and registration status on ABN Lookup, and adds industry association member directories the databases miss.

Find the actual decision-maker

Identifies the named person by title and responsibility rather than settling for the info@ address, captures direct line and mobile where the source holds them, and notes who else is likely in the buying group.

Run waterfall enrichment

Builds the enrichment sequence in Clay so a contact runs through multiple providers until an email is found, then verifies through NeverBounce or ZeroBounce and drops anything returning catch-all, risky or unknown.

Suppress before campaigns run

Checks every new record against the CRM, current customers, live opportunities, existing partners and the client's do-not-contact list, so nobody gets a cold pitch for a service they already pay for.

Monitor buying triggers

Watches for new site openings, funding rounds, tender awards, licence registrations and hiring patterns in SEEK job ads, and logs each as a dated reason to reach out now rather than a generic prospect.

Write the research snippet

Records one specific, verifiable line per account — a recent project, a page on their site, a new location, a piece of equipment — into a dedicated field so the SDR can open with something true.

Segment by persona and trigger

Splits the list so operations managers, owners and finance contacts each get the sequence written for them, and trigger-based cohorts get a message that references the trigger rather than one generic campaign.

Run data hygiene passes

Re-verifies ageing records, marks contacts who have changed employers, standardises state and phone formatting, and archives companies that have deregistered or been wound up so the database doesn't quietly rot.

Scrape approved public sources

Works council contractor lists, NDIS provider registers, licensing and trade registers, franchise directories and industry award finalists within each site's terms of use, and records which source each record came from.

Hand over clean records

Syncs into HubSpot or Pipedrive with source, segment, trigger and enrichment date stamped on every record, so the SDR knows where the contact came from and how recently the details were checked.

Report on source quality

Reports bounce rates, reply rates and disqualification reasons broken down by data source and segment, so the client can move spend to the databases and directories that actually produce conversations.

Keep the collection record

Records the source, date and method of collection for every contact, so the client can meet its Australian Privacy Principles obligations and answer a "where did you get my details" query with an actual answer.

Questions

Frequently asked

What tools do they use for lead gen?
LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, ZoomInfo, HubSpot and similar — matched to your stack.
How much does a lead generation specialist cost?
From $14/hr + GST for a full-time, dedicated team member — roughly $29K a year against $95K–$115K all-in for the local equivalent once you add super, leave, payroll tax, software and a desk. No placement fee, no setup fee, no recruitment retainer: you pay from the day they start, for hours worked, and interviewing candidates costs nothing. Specialist roles sit a little higher. Run your numbers →
How fast can they start?
Typically 14 days from your discovery call to day one. In the first week we source and screen against your brief; you get three matched profiles and interview whoever you like. Once you choose, we handle the offer, the contract, equipment and connectivity checks, and induct them on our side before they reach you. Specialist roles — developers, NDIS claims, anything needing niche software — can take a week longer, because we won't pad a shortlist just to hit a date.
What if the fit isn't right?
You're covered twice over. If it's clearly wrong by day five, your first week is refunded in full. After that, a free replacement any time — new shortlist, new interviews, no second fee, because there was never a first one. Before it gets that far, talk to us: our HR manager will work through it with you and the team member, since most problems turn out to be an unclear process rather than the wrong person, and a fortnight of coaching usually fixes it. Replacing someone is the last resort, not the first move.
Is there a minimum term?
Three months, then month to month. It's the same runway you'd give a new local hire to learn your systems, your clients and your standards — and the team members who get a fair run are the ones who stay for years. There are no exit penalties at any point, and if the issue is the person rather than the role, the first-week refund and free replacement cover that separately.
How do you handle confidentiality?
The same way you'd treat any remote team member. Every placement signs an NDA and a confidentiality clause before day one, and they work inside your systems — your email, your CRM, your file storage — so you control what they can see and can revoke access instantly. No client data is stored on our side.
What stays with you, and what goes to them?
They take the recurring, process-driven part of the lead Generation Specialist role — the work that happens the same way every week and eats your day. Judgement calls, client relationships, anything requiring your licence, sign-off or authority stay with you. The clients who get the most out of a lead Generation Specialist hand over a defined process and keep the decisions, rather than handing over the whole function and hoping. On the discovery call we'll map which tasks fall on which side of that line before you commit to anything.
How do I hand the work over without losing weeks to training?
Record yourself doing the task once and talk through it as you go — a fifteen-minute screen recording beats a written manual every time, and your lead Generation Specialist will turn it into a documented process you both work from. Expect the first fortnight to be shadowing and checking, then steadily less. If you have nothing documented, that's normal and it's not a blocker: we'll help you decide what to record first, and your account manager checks in through the whole ramp-up.
